Tip #4 Use Visualization to enhance your performance
Visualization is a good tool to use when training. Set a goal, and see yourself accomplishing that goal over and over and over again. Then when the time comes to perform the task you have been preparing yourself for mentally, all you have to do is DO IT! Because the outcome has already been rehearsed in your mind. Visualize and set yourself up for greatness!
Tip #3 Speed Kills.
In Football Speed and Quickness are two main components that will separate you from your competitors. On average a football player runs 15-20 yards a play (more or less for DB's ,WR's and linemen). When "conditioning" make sure you concentrate on your sprint training with an emphasis on form and technique. Have your athletes run sets of 10, 15, 20 and 30 yard sprints with minimal rest time between reps. This will help get them in "Football Shape" and aid in their speed and quickness.
Tip #2 - Agility drills are a must.
Most team sports consist of very few movements that occur only in a straight line. Nor do those movements occur at a fixed pace or for a fixed length of time. Agility and quickness drills improves an athlete’s ability to change direction, brake suddenly and perform sport-specific skills with speed and dexterity. Each day spend at least 5 minutes working on the speed ladder or doing some type of cone drills to aid in your athletes agility.
Tip #1 - Warm, Stretch, Cool down and stretch!
Before any athletic activity it is essential to warm up and stretch (hold each stretch for a minimum of 3O seconds). Then after your activity is complete cool down and stretch again. This will help prevent injuries and aid in your overall flexibility and speed development.
